St Peters Catholic Church
Harpers Ferry, West Virginia

Built in 1833 this Neo-Gothic house of worship acted as a hospital during the many Civil War battles fought for control of Harpers Ferry. Not surprising it is widely known to be haunted by a soldier who died of his wounds while being carried inside. His last words were "Thank God, I'm saved" which some people have reported hearing whispered by a disembodied voice.
Another regular there is the purported spirit of Father Michael Costello who also witnessed the horrors of the war & has been sighted numerous times praying around the church grounds. As soon as you catch a glimpse of this beautiful & historic structure perched high up on a hill overlooking the town, it's not hard to understand why the ghosts of the past would gravitate there 🍻
